Birthday

You and I, floating on a cloud shaped like a whale.

Eating pink and blue cotton candy. I wore my best pants and your hair flows like honey down your shoulders. Your lips so sweet from sugar and pale like your cheeks. Veins tight, knees locked and I can’t feel my feet but you read my mind and walked exactly where I wanted to take you.

The Ferris wheel.

It was pouring and your butterfly wings on your back got wet so I gave you my sweatshirt. You ran and span and went around in circles and disappered. That’s when I felt your palms holding my head up, off the muddy gravel and I noticed a rip in your skirt.

“Come on, love.” you held my hand and I shouted, “Happy Birthday!”

You laughed and turned three different shades of purple so I bought you a lemonade from the stand next to the Ferris wheel.
